Origin Of Jabalpur

The name of Tripuri has been found in Mahabharat & Puraan since the ancient time. It is surrounded from old city of Tewar to Bank of Narmada. Huge amount of old coins are found in its revires, in which in same coins tripuri is wnt hut most of the coins one of deform shape. In addition to this most of the coins are found is large scale of Bodlin, Son & Kal Churi Period.

Jabalpur city is almost situated  near the Tripuri, which has got its existence since Mahabharat and Praan. Whenever Kalchuri emperors military force move for their victory they must be passing through the Jabalpur. As that time residents of that locality must be feeling in their heart that our military force is increasing our boundary of state after victory of far off places.

Ancient name of Jabalpur was jabalipattan which is found in old pots & stones carving. First of all its description was found in the old pots of yash:karan of Jabalpur.

Second description was found in NarSingh Bherghat stone.

Third description is found is pots of Jhularpur of Vijay Singh which was given at the time of caste ceremony to a Vidyadhar brahman in the donation.

There was a dispute between the Kalchuriyan & Parmars regarding the boundary of its state. The city was destroyed during an army campaign. Hence it is undisputed that the Jabalpur was famous by the name of Jabalipattan in the tenth century, and it was dominated by Kalchuri emperors.

By looking at the huge stone pillars surrounded throughout the city, some historian assumed that since stone pillars are called as “Jabal” in Arabi language, hence the city has got its name as “Jabalpur”.
